There wll be a “Sponsored Table Tennis Event” to be held in the Glenorchty Centre on Saturday 16th June from dawn to dusk. The event is open to everyone, either by booking a time slot and playing, sponsoring a player4, or popping in for Toast & Tea / Coffee in the morning, then at lunchtime Hot Dogs and Burgers will be served, and in the afternoon there will be Tea and Cakes on offer. As in the previous two years it will be a day fullof fun and fellowship with opportunities to make new friends. We will also be welcoming Athletes from Special Olympics City of Birmingham to Wirksworth.

This was held on Sunday 1st July at 7.30pm In the URC Church, Coldwell Street, Wirksworth
The money raised is for the Wirksworth and District Music Lessons Fund and the Derby Refugee Centre.
The URC was open for the Saturday of the Wirksworth Well Dressing Weekend when we served coffee/tea and scones. It was lovely to welcome people into the church either to share fellowship with us or just come into church for a time of quiet reflection.
Ian arranged a lovely outing to Skipton. Thanks Ian. We look forward to the next trip to Llandudno in July – look out for more details.
A presentation by Pam Orchard at West Derbyshire URC on Sunday 20th May at 3pm – Official figures show a rise in rough sleeping in the UK every year for the past 7 years. In fact across the UK, all types of homelessness is increasing including numbers of people in temporary accommodation such as B and Bs and hostels. Pam has worked in homelessness for 15 years and is the CEO at The Connection at St Martins in central London. She will outline what are the main causes of homelessness, different types of homelessness, why homelessness is rising and some of the responses required which would tackle the problem. The session will include a combination of presentation and discussion.
With the success of the games events arranged in March and April a further Games Event in the Glenorchy Centre is planned for Sunday evening 20th May 6 – 7.30pm. Come and have a fun evening where you can join friends new and old playing Boccia, Skittles or Board Games, or just sit and chat. Refreshments served. This is an event for young people aged 11-18 years to be held in The Glenorchy Centre, Chapel Lane, Wirksworth. There will be a charge of £2 per person to cover events. Registration and Parental Consent Forms available at all member churches or contact Mike Weaver 0747 411 9574. Admission will not be allowed without a signed consent form.
A sunrise service was held at the Star Disc and everyone met at Top Kens at 6.20am before walking up to the Star Disc.
All the churches joined together for the Good Friday Morning Service. This began in the Market Place at 9.45am before the walk of witness to the community area at St Mary’s Church. This year’s service was led by members and friends of the United Reformed Church.
