Past Event: Easter Sunrise Service

A sunrise service was  held at the Star Disc and everyone met at Top Kens at 6.20am before walking up to the Star Disc.

Past Event: Good Friday Service

All the churches  joined together for the Good Friday Morning Service.  This  began in the Market Place at 9.45am  before the walk of witness to the community area at St Mary’s Church.   This year’s service was led by members and friends of the United Reformed Church.

Past Event: Easter Sunday Service

Our Easter Sunday Service – such a special day in the Christian Calendar – was led by our Minister during which we  shared in communion.  The cross was also decorated with daffodils and at the close of the service was placed outside the church.  We also shared chocolate Easter eggs, chocolate crispies and hot cross buns.  Thanks to Camilla for a beautiful service.

Past Event: Maundy Thursday Service

At the URC  a quiet reflective service was held  on Maundy Thursday Service at 7pm which helped us reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross and during the service  will  were invited to share communion.

Past Event: Wirksworth Book Festival

The Wirksworth Book Festival brought a whole host of activities, talks, performances in the town and much more for adults and children.   At the URC on the Saturday and Sunday (following the morning service) we welcomed visitors from far and wide into the church for coffee and cakes when they also browsed the book stall.  Both days were busy and it was good for us to be part of the Book Festival.

Past Event: Mothering Sunday

A Mothering Sunday Service led by our Minister Revd Camilla Veitch.  After communion everyone was given a posy of bright yellow daffodils by the Sunday Explorers.

Past Event: Spring Coffee Morning

Once again Wirksworth was in the grips of winter, and the town was deserted.  However this did not dampen our spirits and everyone who managed to get out and support us had a very enjoyable time, either browsing the goods on offer or sharing fellowship over a cuppa – people even got from Ashbourne and Buxton!!!  Thanks to Joyce and Eva for organising the event.  £580 was raised for church funds.
